Notes from the MSN Meeting of August 29th, 2022

State Rep. Jim Murphy’s District Director Lizzy Metriyakool attended, and in simple terms, explained that Jim Murphy was retiring in November, so not much could be done to help this effort until after the elections!

Mary Nan Huffman spoke of her activities in support of the West Houston Developments effort. It seems she has had zero success with the Houston Housing Authority, having five times requested a meeting and had zero response. She also had a meeting with Mayor Turner, who promised, and that’s all, to get the HHA to respond. There was nothing that gave the impression that Mary Nan had found any solutions – hopefully a wrong impression.

Randy Crump (Fleetwood) discussed the tax implications for the Lakewood Place PFC developments – primarily that KISD and Harris County are being deprived of tax revenues because of City of Houston/Houston Housing Authority mandates and decisions. There was some concern expressed as to why KISD Superintendent and Board of Trustees were making no apparent effort or even taking any interest in the situation. As explained in more detail on the Taxation page, this amounts to $2.5 Million per year of lost revenues, x 75 or 99 years.
